The Book (pre-orders)
The book costs $40, U.S. shipping included. The print run happens when 100 pre-orders are in. After that, printing takes about 4–6 weeks, then your signed copy ships to the address on your PayPal payment. If we never reach 100 pre-orders, every single person gets a full refund. If your book arrives damaged, mangled, or apparently chewed, contact us and we’ll make it right — a real answer from a real person, usually within a day or two.
Penpal Club subscriptions
Field Notes ($12/month) and the Founding 25 ($40/month) renew monthly and can be canceled anytime from your own PayPal account (PayPal → Settings → Payments → Automatic payments) — no exit interview, no guilt trip, the goats will simply assume you died heroically. Letters continue through the end of your paid period. Moving? Send the new address through the contact page so your mail doesn’t haunt the previous residents.
Donations
Donations (the hay jar, the feed bill, the mortgage) are one-time payments — even the big ones are set to end automatically after a single charge. Donations are generally non-refundable because they turn into hay at remarkable speed, but if you made a genuine mistake (wrong button, overenthusiastic toddler, revenge of the group chat), contact us within 7 days and we’ll sort it out like adults.
Squatch-o-Grams
One payment, one letter, one recipient. We are not responsible for the recipient’s emotional response, follow-up questions, or newfound belief in cryptids. That’s the product working as intended.
Everything else
This operation is two humans, a legal department that eats crackers, and a postal service we treat with enormous respect. If something goes wrong with your order, tell us and we will fix it. That’s the whole policy. It fits on a feed bag.
