About the Author
Michael H. Schricker
Author of Hey! What The Farm! · Bigfoot’s Farm, Bloomingdale, Ohio
Michael H. Schricker is a first-time farmer, a career marketer, and the man behind Bigfoot’s Farm — a twelve-acre log-cabin homestead in Jefferson County, Ohio, that exists because a joke worked too well. In 2026 he wrote a deliberately unhinged Facebook listing for his slightly haunted house near Pittsburgh (possible ghosts, serial-killer squirrels, a steelworker named Frank). It sold in twenty-four hours at full asking price. He took that as a sign.
What followed was a running public record of a city guy learning agriculture in real time: asking strangers in local Facebook groups how to buy a donkey, whether goats are ticklish, why a Harbor Freight auger tried to kill him, and how one gets a contractor to return a call in rural Ohio. The posts went viral, repeatedly, and readers began asking for a book. Hey! What The Farm! — sixty of those dispatches, 232 pages, self-published in a signed first edition — is that book. Nineteen of its earliest pre-orders paid to pull a one-year-old mini mule named LeeLoo out of a kill auction.
Before the farm, Michael spent eighteen years in marketing, including campaign work for Disney and Google, with budgets ranging from a single photoshoot to seven figures. He holds a master’s in business communication, a bachelor’s in advertising, and an associate’s in multimedia production, is a Google Trusted Photographer, and previously published a book on marketing psychology. He runs The Owl Agency. He was once hit by an Uber and spent months in a wheelchair, which is the reason “always good” is his honest answer to “how are you.”
He lives on the farm with his partner Mariah — a veterinary technician with a degree in animal medicine and more than twenty years of hands-on experience, who is the qualified half of the operation — and a growing roster of goats, horses, a mini donkey, a mini mule, barn cats, a 30-year-old conure, and a blue panda pug named Banksy who has his own page.
Short bio (50 words): Michael H. Schricker is a first-time Ohio farmer and eighteen-year marketing veteran whose viral Facebook cries for help became Hey! What The Farm!, a signed first-edition comedy about learning agriculture in public. He lives on Bigfoot’s Farm in Bloomingdale, Ohio, with his partner Mariah and an ever-growing cast of animals.

Story Angles
Things this story is actually about, for producers and editors who need a hook:
- The joke that bought a farm. A Facebook house listing about ghosts and squirrels sold a home in 24 hours, and the guy who wrote it used the money to move to twelve acres he had no idea how to run.
- Learning to farm in public. Every question a beginner is embarrassed to ask, asked out loud to strangers — and the rural community that answered instead of laughing.
- A book that rescued a mule. Pre-orders of a comedy about failing at agriculture pulled a one-year-old mini mule out of a kill auction. She has a name, a page, and a growing fan club.
- The receipt. A self-published author who shows readers exactly where every dollar of the cover price goes, down to the donkey’s snack budget.
- “Always good.” After being hit by a car and losing the ability to walk for months, the author’s baseline for a good day changed. The farm is what he did with that.
- Marketing guy vs. the algorithm. An 18-year marketer who has worked with Disney and Google explains why a farm with 600 followers outperforms brands with millions, and what he does differently.

Sponsorships & Partnerships
The audience is small and absurdly engaged: it buys $40 books from a stranger at a rate most brands would kill for. If your product belongs on a working farm — feed, fencing, tools, boots, trucks, coffee, anything a man has publicly failed with — there are two ways in:
- Name an animal. A one-time sponsorship puts your name on a resident of this farm for life, in every post and photo that animal appears in. Details on the Friends & Sponsors page →
- Product partnerships. Honest, in-voice reviews of things used on the farm. If it breaks, the audience will hear about it. That’s the deal, and it’s why they trust the ones that don’t.
